We are thinking of going to the mines at Pala, and wondering where the best place to camp or stay at near there in late March. Should we stay on the coast? Thanks for any advice.

In March the weather is alittle iffy at the coast, but you may hit some good weather. There are plenty of reasonable hotels and motels in Oceanside. The 76 highway to Pala is abut 30-40 minutes from there. Another place to stay you might consider is Temecula. Its about 20 minutes away from Pala, North off the 15 freeway. It has an "Old Town" and lots of excellent wineries in the area.
