You could try St. Louis. The Lake of the Ozarks. Branson.
Much closer, you could spend the night in Lawrence, KS, which is only an hour away but a beautiful college town with plenty to do.
Depends what you are looking for. Lake Ozark is great for kids (bagnell dam area)....st. louis is 4 hours away.
Thanks, no kids this trip, looking for some place nice ,maybe stay at a B+B.
Branson, MO; Omaha, NE; St Joseph, MO; Madison County, IA; Hutchinson, KS; Lawrence, KS; Herman, MO; Columbia, MO; Rocheport, MO.
Depending on what you actually want to do, there are many choices. Those are all within 1-4 hours.
Keith
Drive to Rocheport, MO, spend the day antique shopping, hiking the Katy Trail, Les Bourgeouis restaurant, and spend the night at a b&b. This isn't high style, but a nice weekend.
Have you been to the Truman Museum & Presidential Library in Independence, MO? One of the most comprehensive museums and nice, peaceful grounds. Would take less than 1/2 day for the tour etc. but definitely worth a visit.
Yes, we've been to the Truman Library. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.
I vote for lawrence kansas. It is a beautiful colleg town.
