Has anyone stayed at this hotel? I've found a good rate for it. .

I've walked thru many times, used the spa, eaten at the restaurants, shopped in the lobby stores. It seems a very nice hotel (but out of my budget).

Thanks - I got the best hotel rate on their website but when you combine the air/hotel, the best rate is the package deal. Do you need to rent a car in Honolulu? We've never been there so we have alot to see. When is the best time to go? Summer is out, am planning for mid-September. What do you think?

I have a timeshare but found there's not much to rent (timeshare wise) in Honolulu and the few places that are available are in high rises and that's not what I want for a beach vacation. How expensive is it to eat there?

we stayed several times at the Outrigger Reef but its been about 10 years..great location and ask for a higher floor/remodeled room and we had a great time with a nice beach..classic Outrigger!
McDonalds is across the street if you want to pick up a cheap snack vs. the hotel food.
We have rented a car but there bus system worked well for us and gone around the island for a couple of bucks..

We stayed there for a week in the fall of 2006. The hotel was heavily impacted by the beach walk construction. There was a lot of construction noise and areas of the hotel were closed off. I'm pretty sure all of the construction is complete now. The pool was nice and the beach was too, but the beach was small. The Shorebird restaurant is very good and one of the least expensive beachside restaurants in Waikiki. The entrance to the hotel is busy and very constricted. Overall, I'd give the hotel 3.5 stars out of 5.

Can't comment on hotel but September is a great time to go, weather is nice and is low season. I would rent a car you should also check with the hotel and find out how much they charge for parking. Hope this helps

I stayed there several years ago, but it's been remodeled fairly recently. I would look at the latest reviews on tripadvisor for the remodeled rooms.

Although the rooms were "motel chic" and nothing to write home about, I was very happy with the hotel overall. I liked the location, as well as the pool area and restaurants. Both the beachfront restaurant and bar were great. I'd stay there again, no question, if the price were right. At the time I stayed there, I thought it seemed like the best value hotel right on Waikiki beach.

I don't rent a car when I go to Honolulu, but I am happy just doing the things around Waikiki/Honolulu area on foot and using The Bus.

The car rental thing is completely a personal decision, based on your planned itinerary.

I just walked through the hotel lobby a couple weeks ago. They are done with renovations. It looks really nice. Take it if you can get a good deal.

No more McDonald's across the street. The entire block was torn down & replaced with Trump Tower. It should open around Sept or Oct this year.

What kind of rate did you get? We are booked at the Sheraton Waikiki in May for a convention, but am thinking of changing to the Outrigger.

Let me know..maybe I can "preview" the hotel for you in May if we decide to stay there instead!

I found $1,427 for a week in September at their website. If I get a package deal (airfare and hotel) I can save a little but it means transferring in Los Angeles and it would be nice to fly non-stop from Las Vegas - on Hawaiian Airlines.
