I'm finding it so helpful in our travels to consult with the experts! With all the choices for barbecue here in the Outer Banks, it is hard to discern a favorite since local sites, TripAdvisor, and Chowhound offer mixed reviews in our area except for a relatively unadvertised spot in Corolla called Corolla Village Barbecue.
It's been many years since we were last here and there seem to be a bunch of new spots!
Does anyone have any suggestions or favorites?
Thanks again!!

It's been awhile since I have been up to Corolla but my all time favorite BBQ is located in Kitty Hawk, High Cotton BBQ. Will, the owner is born & bred Eastern NC & his food is delicious! You can check out http://www.obx.com/index.cfm?MainCat=2&Sub=13&selectregion=0&SearchString= for an extensive listing of BBQ places on the OBX. Hope you have a great time while your here & be sure to visit us on Facebook also http://www.facebook.com/obxcom

Thank you for the suggestion, Wahm. I did hear good things about High Cotton but it was a bit of a haul to Kitty Hawk with evening beach traffic. We decided to try Corolla Village Barbecue, and truly, it was terrific and well-priced. The meat and chicken were excellent in quality, the sauces were tangy and kicky, cole slaw was perfect, it was all good! They are located in a *teeny* spot, almost a shack, near the lighthouse and seem to be well-enjoyed by the locals since their name kept coming up when I began asking around at the local grocery store and on the beach. I'd love to try High Cotton next time, but I will also be sure to order again from Corolla Village Barbecue. So yummy!!
