Hello
We are staying in Portalnd but going to the trials in Eugene for one day. We are thinking of going to Hood River or heading over to the coast for the next few days. My thought is that there is probably more activities in Hood River. Can anyone suggest some activiites or places to stay in Hood River.

If you have a free 3 hours while in Portland go out to see the waterfalls on the Columbia River Gorge. The drive is beautiful and less than an hour east of the airport area.
Cannot comment on the Hood River area, but the entire coast of Oregon is spectacular.
where are you coming from?
We are coming from San Diego--since we have been to the Oregon coast before, we have decided to go to Hood River. Any hiking, dining, or other suggestions would be great.
Hello fellow SDian: There are plenty of other posts in here with info - under Oregon - and I/we love the Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood. The kids will probably love watching the summer snowboard camps and soaking in the pool/hot tub look up the mountain at the glacier. Great dining options too, including the hidden away Blue Ox Bar - w/ Pizza, etc (Paul Bunyan room).

BTW - plenty of hiking on/around Mt. Hood - and there is a great little lake below hiway 26. They have a gourmet dining room - and if you get a table window - you can see all the way to the 3 Sisters in Bend - or you can eat at the 2nd floor bar - looking through the huge picture window - up the mountain.
Three Teenagers? Go windsurfing. Hood River is world famous for it.
