Opinions on BW Inn PIoneer Square Seattle
ESpecially interested in location. Have read it is a bit seedy and not quite safe. What do you think? Any info on this hotel would be helpful.

All things being equal, I'd stay in the downtown core rather than in Pioneer Square. I stayed at this hotel years ago and it was adequate but there are definitely better hotels and better locations.

It's true (Pioneer Square is a bit seedy). I think it's probably safe enough though. There's a number of 'missions' and homeless shelters there, so it's mostly panhandlers and stuff, not violent crime or anything.
But I think anywhere in the downtown core would be better (about 1 mile north of Pioneer Square). Hotel Max, Roosevelt, Warwick, and Mayflower Park are all very good and mid-priced hotels you could look at.

Even for young people hanging out in bars & clubs, Belltown is much more 'it' these days. Pioneer Square nightlife is kinda tired & worn. Some place like The Ace Hotel maybe, if 'hip' is what they're after.

That is where my collegues at our CA office stay when visiting our Seattle office and no one has any problems. As someone that works on the next block I'm not sure that that particular location (on the edge of Pioneer Square) is any worse than any other downtown/Belltown location, in terms of homeless hanging around. There's just an awful lot of homeless/peole hanging out all over the downtown area.

I certainly agree with that. There's homeless folks all around downtown Seattle (sad and unfortunately). But I think the nightlife is better these days in Belltown, than Pioneer Square, generally speaking.

Four of us stayed at that hotel in August and found it perfectly satisfactory. My sister, brother, and I (BIL wasn't feeling very well) walked down to the waterfront, up to the street where the buses (free) run and went to Pike Place Market, and then out to find some light supper. No problems at all.
Early the next morning, my brother and I walked to Chinatown. Nothing was open yet, and it wasn't anything like I expected. I've only been in Chinatowns in NY, Honolulu, San Francisco, and London; and they are much bigger and more vibrant.
The hotel itself is an old building, and the interior is old- fashioned elegant. I'm a reader, and there was a neat looking bookstore beside it that was not open when I could have stopped in.

We stayed there four years ago and enjoyed our stay. Our room was tiny but adequate (we saw others that were much larger). Things may have changed in four years, but we felt perfectly safe walking about the area and found a couple of good restaurants: an Italian one on the corner, steps from the hotel, and another up the street that had delicious sandwiches.
Nightlife for us was taking a cab to The Alley for dinner and jazz, which was perfect for our tastes.
We had a very extensive included breakfast at the hotel, found the staff very friendly and helpful, and based on that experience wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
