ONP help

Off to slow start here in washington. Could use direction to pick up pace. Our base is south of ONP and by beach until thursday We haven't explored the park yet and have one day and half day and then need to get to mount Vernon area by Thursday evening for a family event. Is there a route and timetable one might suggest? . We are not going down to cannon beach as have been reading on forum . Any suggestions would be helpful Tips of " to dos" near pacific beach and especially ONP plan and then ferry suggestions?
We like swimming , would like to see waterfalls.

My girls who are teenagers want to see some sea life( whales, sea lions...) when in Washington , as we are from Midwest. We do have four days north of seattle and one last day near seattle before heading back.

Welcome to Fodors!

It might help draw the attention of people in Washington if you reposted and tagged WASHINTON, and maybe spell out ONP. Until you get more help, have you done a search for recent posts about ONP and Washington?

Go north on 101 to Port Townsend and from PT take the ferry to Coupeville for the short route to Mt. Vernon. Attractions along the way include Quinault Lake, Kalaloch, Ruby Beach, Hoh Rain Forest, Forks, La Push, Rialto Beach, Sol Duck Hotsprings and waterfall, Lake Crescent and Marymere Falls, Port Angeles, and Hurricane Ridge.

A ferry reservation is advised, and you can make it here: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/

I should have noted that your best option for swimming is Sol Duc Hot Springs: https://www.nationalparkreservations...Q#.U8_EFFZzP8U

Since marah is new, "Post on the Washington forum" will be confusing--there is only a USA forum.

Some people narrow the list by choosing a state from the list at the top. Tagging a post with WASHINGTON, as I suggested above, will make it show up in a WASHINGTON list.

There is no "Washington Forum" just the US board (w/ tags for individual states). I asked the moderators to add a Washington tag.

I will do that and thank you. Those suggestions are actually very helpful for our active trip. I am planning this morning. I had a daughter who was not feeling great so this was reason we stuck around area. And now want to hit highlights . If I get too many replies I suppose I could make hard to decide.
Nothing to see at grays harbor?

Thx

Check into Orca whale watching through the San Juan Islands. I think it is still in season. I did that and loved it.
