My husband and I tried to get into the Omni Royal Orleans but it was sold out for the weekend that we are going to be in New Orleans. They referred us to this hotel saying that it's a couple of blocks out of the quarter but still a good location and hotel. Has anyone stayed at this hotel and have opinions about it? I wondering if I need to keep looking. (We did get a good rate of $116/night though over a holiday weekend). Thanks!

Do not do it. It is really a very bad place

Susan -- if you do a search of this site, you will see that I have asked for personal experience involving this hotel, too, and haven't turned up much information. From what I can tell, it is a smaller, full-service hotel just outside the French Quarter. It appears to cater more to business clientele. You can check it out on the Omni website, but my experience with the Omni chain has always been very good -- nice hotels, great service. Maybe someone has a personal experience they can post?

the hotel is nice and very close to bourban st. Being close to bourban st is not always a good thing unless you like staying up till at least 3:00 am.
why not try the marriot its on canal and right by bourban st. or the doubletree both are nicer than the omni.

x and Roy have no clue what they are talking about. This hotel is downtown, just across Canal, and is totally acceptable in every way.
