Omni Parker House - train directions

We are staying a weekend at the Omni Parker House in Boston. We will be coming up by Amtrak from Providence.

I am having a hard time figuring out if we should get off at the South Street train station or Back Bay and then how to get to the hotel from the station. We don't mind walking a few blocks, but will take the T if necessary.

Thanks for any help.

According to this URL
http://www.omnihotels.com/findahotel...irections.aspx
the Omni Parker House is on School Street in Boston.

Based on this map
http://www.starthereboston.com/Subway-Map-Downtown.html
it would appear you could choose just about any T-Line and ride to within a block of the Parker. I have no idea if one would be better than the other as far as ease of exit is concerned.

Based on these maps

http://www.bostoncitylinks.com/boston_maps.html
it would appear you could get off at South Station, ride the Red Line towards Alewife, get off one station later (Downtown Crossing) and be fairly close to the hotel.

That's the route I would take. Boston residents may tell you something I don't know about, however.

It's not too far a walk (but def more than a few blocks) - 10 mins or so - if you don't mind. If you're arriving during rush hour, it can be quite hectic walking on those narrow sidewalks with lots of people. Also, there's a good chance you'll get lost, so print out a good map ahead of time and don't be shy asking for directions.

If you're arriving in the evening, or if you're not up to walking, take the Red Line from South Station. It's a piece of cake. Get off at Park Street and the hotel is about 2 blocks away.

Wow, thanks PaulRabe.

I looked at those maps and still couldn't figure it out.

From what I can tell its only one stop from the South Station to the Downtown Crossing station. I wonder if its walkable? We have only carryons with wheels.

It is quite close to Downtown Crossing-less than 5 minutes walk.

Nice map yk. If its a nice day I would walk. Otherwise I would take red line to Park Street station not downtown crossing and walk up Tremont Street
