Omaha Restaurants
I'll be in Omaha Nov 3-9 for medical treatment. Most of our time will be spent in doctor's offices but we'll have some free time to explore in the evenings. We're looking for good restaurants in the downtown area that would be moderately priced. We are staying at a Hilton on Cuming Street which appears to be near the Old Market District. Any suggestions on good food in this area will be appreciated!

I am guessing you mean the Hilton right across the street from the Qwest Center? If so, I have stayed at that one a couple times and it is nice, and a short walk to the Old Market area. The only restaurant we went to there was Upstream Brewing, which was good. Hopefully some locals or more frequent visitors can give you some other suggestions as well

MMS~looks like Hilton Homewood Suites is just 3 blocks from Qwest Center. It gets good reviews & provides shuttle service to the doctor's office & hospital so that was a plus. Thanks for the Upstream Brewing suggestion.

ljps--Ok, a different Hilton, I have seen it but not stayed there. Shuttle service will be nice, although I found driving in Omaha extremely easy, just in case you ever need to. If you have time and want a distraction, go to the zoo, it is very good.

I'll second a recommendation for the Upstream--it's one of my faves in Omaha.
Another favorite is LaCasa Pizza...it's near 45th & Leavenworth...outstanding pizza and Italian; has an old-school retro feel.
For a "uniquely" Omaha restaurant, there's the Bohemian Cafe which is on either 10th or 13th Street.
Another unusual more "fast food" type place is Runza. Their specialty is meat-filled bread packets, but they also have good burgers and stuff.
You won't be far from Midtown Crossing, a new mixed-use development with condos, restaurants, a movie theater, etc. Their website is www.midtowncrossing.com
I grew up in Omaha and still have family there. Best of luck with your treatment; hope you are able to enjoy your visit.
