Old Faithful Inn or Lake Yellowstone Hotel

Right now I have reservation for Old Faithful Inn for the beginning of July. I've been reading some posts and wonder if I should switch to Lake Yellowstone Hotel in Lake Village instead. We're in our early '50s and some of the posts keep going on and on about kids running in the halls at night. We'll also be going to Canyon Village and Mammouth Springs area afterwards so we will have a chance to get around the rest of the park. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

We have stayed at both lodges and like them both very much. They are both "bustling", but Lake is probably a quieter bustle! The room we had at Old Faithful had a shared bathroom in the hall next to our room, so there was some traffic noise. They both have a wonderful ambiance, are next to great natural wonders and have nice dining rooms. I do travel with ear plugs all the time...I find many hotels a bit noisy. I don't think it will be a big enough problem to spoil your adventure. I have been to the park 3 times and thoroughly enjoyed all of my experiences and really recommend staying IN THE PARK. Have fun!

The Snow Lodge is just behind Old Faithful Inn, and it is really nice...

We have stayed at Old Faithful Inn, Canyon Lodge and the Snow Lodge and walked through the Lake Yellowstone Hotel. The Lake Hotel had a more sedate feel to it. Many guests were seated in the lobby area relaxing with a book and a drink and appeared to be older. I'm not saying this is the norm, just what I observed the day I visited. As far as the Old Faithful Inn, we stayed in the newer wing and never had problems with children running through the halls. It is my favorite of the three. The Snow Lodge is nice, but one of our rooms did have a weird humming sort of noise that drove me crazy. On our next visit it was not a problem, though. Have fun!

We also did not have any problem in the new part of Old Faithful Inn. The older part did seem noisy and unappealing to us. I suppose any place can have kids/noise--just depends on your timing. Personally, I loved staying there and being able to walk amongst the geyers at any hour.
