Going to OC ,solo, in early Nov. mainly to see "american Impressionists" At Oklahoma City Art Museum..
On map it looks "near" downtown. My AAA tour book only show 4 hotels in area and all are very expensive.
Looks like there are clusters of motels near airport.sort of NW ofdowntown & area called Midwest city (SE of town)..I am NOT renting a car. No problem with buses or taxis
I see references to "Bricktown" -is it downtown?
I usually use priceline for airport stay day of arrival.
Oklahoma City--lodging areas--"downtown?

There are more than several hotels in OKC. Bricktown is a revitalized area with lots of restaurants and hotels. There is a trolly that can take you to all of the downtown area.
Hotels in the downtown area are: Skirvin Hilton Hotel, Colcord Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, Marriott Renaissance, Residence Inn by Marriott and Courtyard by Marriott. (Bricktown Hotel pops up on the Expedia search but I'm not familiar with it. I'll drive by tomorrow and check it out.)
For phone numbers and websites this website has them listed:
http://www.bricktownokc.com/hotels.asp
It is not inclusive of all restaurants but lists many. Some I would avoid so when you get to the dining stage of planning let me know.
Also, here is the trolly information. It makes stops at/near the downtown hotels.

I would NOT recommend staying by the airport unless you had a car. Downtown or Bricktown is the area you want to be. (The two areas abut each other so they're really one and the same.)
Check out the hotels listed. They are all walking distance to restaurants and to the museum. I believe the trolley makes a stop by the museum at the bus station which is a block north of the museum.
Hope this gets you started and feel free to email me if you wish.
