My wife and I are west-coasters completely unfamiliar with NYC. We will be spending a Saturday night in July at the Hilton Garden JFK, catching a flight to Europe the next morning. We get into JFK about 5:30 p.m. and would like to eat dinner in a local restaurant versus something at the hotel. Looks like there is an internet highly rated place called Don Pepee's about a mile from the hotel. Since we will be in aircraft all day, a nice 20 minute walk to dinner would be welcome.
Should I have any concern about walking from the Hotel to the restaurant? It looks like a pretty straight shot west on 149th street according to Google Maps. I'm guessing we would be waking back from the restaurant to the hotel about 9:00 that evening. If not, would I piss off a taxi driver taking a cab there and back for a distance of about a mile?
Thanks for any help.
Okay to walk from Hilton Garden JFK to Don Pepee's Ozone Park Queens
