Off the Wall, No. 9
Just would like to ramble about the worst Beatles tunes. Here goes my list:
1. Revolution No. 9. It must be assumed that Lennon was under the heavy influence of drugs at this time to put out such nonsense.
2. Within You, Without You. The worst of Harrison's Indian musical junk.
3. For the Benefit of Mr. Kite. Though Sgt. Pepper's is a great album, it is overrated. This song is one of the reasons why.
4. Maxwell's Silver Hammer. McCartney's childish drivel.
5. Let it Be. McCartney's presumptuous attempt to out-do Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water. Doesn't work, however.
6. The Long and Winding Road. Dull song, proof that the Beatles were out of gas by 1969.
7. Yer Blues. Lennon's noisy piece of trash.
8. Why Don't We Do it in the Road. McCartney met Linda about the time this song was written. Does this song tell us something about their early dates? A silly, worthless song.
9. Blue Jay Way. For a talented guy and one whom carried the Abbey Road album, Harrison wrote a disproportionate number of bad songs. This is definitely one.
10. Octopuses' Garden. Some of Lennon's communist claptrap. Only redeeming feature is Ringo's vocals. Incidentally, the best post-Beatle song by a Beatle is Ringo's Photograph. The worst is McCartney's repulsive duet with the vile Michael Jackson, The Dog-Faced Girl is Mine.
11. Come Together. I add this because a lot of people like it and it did well on the charts. I despise this hippyish song, however.
I'd like other posters' opinions on their least favorite Beatles tunes. I even would like criticism of my own list. All's fair in Off the Wall No. 9.
