Two female friends of mine in their late fifties are going to take a trip immediately to visit an elderly relative in Ocean Springs.They have asked me to help them with their arrangements.
Both have visited the States before but neither is keen on driving. They would like to start and finish their trip in Ocean Springs and then go somewhere in the middle from there. Either on the way out or back they will stop in New York.
Can anyone familiar with the area help me with these queries please?
1.Is Ocean Springs a safe place for my friends and can you suggest somewhere suitable for them to stay? As yet they have not told the relative that they are coming as they want to have arranged their accomodation first so that it doesn't seem that they are asking to go and stay.
2.If they fly into Mobile can they get on to Ocean Springs by public transport?Does the same apply to New Orleans?Do all the major U.S. airlines serve Mobile?
3.Where could they go by public transport for some days in the middle? Is the Panhandle an attractive destination?Same question-can you recommend somewhere safe for them to stay?

I lve a few miles from ocean Springs so Iwill try to answer your questions
Yes it is a very safe town located between Pascagoula and Biloxi .
It is only 2 miles to Biloxi
I would fly into Biloxi/Gulfport rather than Mobile as mobile is about 45 miles and Biloxi is around 10.
air fare in and out of mobile is higher also.
I not sure about motels in Ocean Springs but there some very nice ones
in Biloxi some belong to the casinos
I think there is a shuttle between
Biloxi and New Orleansand

Amtrak also runs thru Ocean Springs but does not stop untill Biloxi,It runs 3 times a week both ways, It can be hours late west bound
I cant tell you much about N.O. As I Dont care about being there when the sun sets .
It does have a Great airport and the fares are better also
An idea might be to fly into N.O. ,take
amtrak to Biloxi.
Leaving you could take amtrak east to pensacola and then fly out as Pensacola
has a good airport and reasonable fares
