You should be OK. Bus (air-Bart) to Bart sta leaves airport every 10 min.
Bart trains are more numerous during your time frame. Hopefully there will not be "Bart Protesters' on Friday.
Deb
As you probably know, BART will only get you to within 7 1/2 blocks of your apt. If you need to get closer to that because you have heavy/clumsy bags, switch to the J-Church at the Embarcadero station (later SF stations will have more passengers getting on). Get off at Church St, just as the Muni Metro emerges from underground. Then you will be only 2 blocks from your apt.
Will you be arriving later this weekend?? The reason I ask this is because there is a forecast of rain then - which is unusual for this time of your. However, you always bring rain with you so I thouht that might be the reason for the wet forecast.
Stu Dudley
Of course rain is predicted for several upcoming days; yes, Stu - the rainmakers are coming to town. Too bad we can't get our powers to work here at home where we have had less than 2" of rain this year!
Stu, how much of a hassle is it to get from BART to J Church @ Embarcadero? Do they share a station, I can't remember?
Only 1 carry-on, so the walk shouldn't be too bad from 16th was my thinking.
They do share a station and there are escalators to go up the one level from BART to Muni.
Thanks sf! One last Q, where exactly does the it come above ground/ location of that station - Duboce and Church??
First stop on the J-Church after it comes up from underground is Church, between Market & Duboce - closer to Duboce. Directly next to Safeway.
At the underground SF stations using BART, you will have to go up one flight of escalators, process your BART ticket, leave the BART domain, then buy a Muni ticket. Go to the Muni entrance, insert the ticket, & go down 2 floors (past BART) & hop on the Muni Metro/J-Church. There are other Muni trains you can take that emerge from the same underground - perhaps the K,L,M - but I have never taken these and they probably don't stop on Church - maybe Duboce instead.
Stu Dudley
the J Church stops at Church and Duboce
The N stops at Duboce and Chiurch a block away
The K, L and M cars stop at the underground stop at the intersection of Market, Church and 14th st
For a bit of explanation:
Church Street Station is a Muni Metro station at the intersection of Market Street, Church Street and 14th Street in San Francisco, California. The J Church, which enters and exits the Market Street tunnel in a portal near the station, has an aboveground stop on Church and Market Streets. The N Judah also exits the tunnel before reaching the station and stops one block away at Church and Duboce Avenue. The station consists of two side platforms next to the tracks on the second level down with the concourse mezzanine level overlooking it.
However i disagree that the trip is doable in this time frame. Land at 3 :45 - even walking quickly you won't be at the air bart bus till 4. Then the time to get to BART, then a bit of a wait, then the change to systems...it's possible but I would give myself a good 2 hours door to door.
The K,L and M lines, accessible at the same station as the J, go to Church and Market and also Castro and Market. So they give you an extra option depending on the location of your stay.
Thanks all for your insights!
You've got all the relevant transport info, but I agree w/ mztery. It could be very tight. Touching down at 3:45 could mean getting off the plane and on the BART bus by 4:15 or even later.
I'd think getting to the Castro by 6PM would be making good time.
Hi Deb, I thought you two might possibly be interested in this restuarant that is reviewed in the SF Chron today as I know how you love to discover new restuarants.

Wishing you a happy visit and lots of sunshine!
Deb--If you go to LaCiccia, have anything with cinghiale!
I am not sure about LaCiccia - sounds like it may be a bit too much even for me.
What about taking the N to Duboce and Noe? Is that closer [staying on Noe north of Market].
Deb, are you staying at Noe and Henry? If so, the N stop at Noe would be about a 2 block walk. It will be an above ground stop, with no platform, so that means you will have to step down about three steps with your luggage. If you don't feel up to hauling luggage off the streetcar, you could take the K,L or M to Church, which is an underground stop with easy platform access. The exit on Church and Market is about 2 blocks from Noe and Henry also.
Just re-read your original post and see you will be traveling on MUNI at rush hour on Friday, in which case I highly recommend that you do not take the N--it will be jammed. I speak from first hand knowledge, unfortunately I have spent way too much time jammed into the N. Definitely take a K,L or M. Skip the J, it stops above ground in the same location as the K, L and M and it does not run as frequently as the other lines.
For a good restaurant in your neighborhood: l'Ardoise.
Thanks Michael, that's where we are having dinner tomorrow!
For Traveler24: protesters operate on Mondays
Plane got in a bit early, took BART all the way in and was here by 4:45! Thanks all.
Welcome to SF, DebitNM hope you have a great visit.
Thanks SAB - planning on hitting the Ferry Bldg first thing, then the Sutro Forest Hike and finally Brunch Drunk Love for brunch. That's a good start to the trip.
Welcome....
Lots of wind & some fog - unusual for this time of year - but NO RAIN so far !!! When does Gene motor in ???
Stu Dudley
Poor meyer lemon crop this year.
Gene stayed in Half Moon Bay on Thursday night, Stu, so he was here when I got in. He met me at 16th and Mission. Too bad about the meyers....you know how I love them.
