NYC Water Taxis: Midtown to Brooklyn?

My aunt lives in Manhattan close to the East River (roughly 30th & East River); I'm going to need to get to the Brooklyn Terminal (where the QM2 departs). Does anyone know if the water taxis pick up in Midtown and go to near the Brooklyn Terminal? I was thinking this might be easier than taking a taxi on land...with traffic not being a concern. Any thoughts?

There's a stop at 35 st. & the East River but it only goes to Williamsburgh or Fulton St. (Brooklyn bridge) not to Red Hook and it only leaves early in the morning.

The only boat that goes to Red Hook is the Ikea express which leaves from Pier 11 in Wall st.

Not sure how close the Ikea dock is to the cruise terminal but you could check on maps.google.com

I really think you're better off with a regular cab that can take you right to your ship than trying to cobble together several pieces that may not get you that close to it.

I agree. did the water taxi to the Ikea this weekend to check out the Brooklyn Art show and what an ordeal. First the subway wasn't running to downtown, so it was a haul to get there and then the boat is crowded.
Take a taxi. so much easier.

Thank you.

I guess cab it will be... I've not been this far in a cab, so I imagine it will be $25-$30 or so from Midtown.

Thank you for introducing me to NYC cab fare dot com, mclaurie (which has links to cab fares in other cities, for those who are interested). The 21st century really blows me away sometimes as to the things one can do...
