NYC trip - bar/nightclubs - where to stay?
We are 2 girls going to NYC the weekend of June 12. We are only staying for 3 days so we would like to find a hotel centrally located. Our plans are the following:
1. Sat night: bars, nightclubs
2. Sun morning: bus tour
3. Sun afternoon: Broadway
4. Mon: Central Park, breakfast at a nice restaurant, shopping
Any recommedations for: nightclubs (we are in the mid 30s), hotels (in the mid $ range) and nice restaurant to have breakfast at.
Thanks!!

NYC has sights all over the place - so no hotel is central to everything. There are bars everywher - but dance clubs are primarily downtown - esp the trendy ones, broadway is midtown and Central Park is mid to uptown.
Shopping depends on what you want (traditional dep't stores are midtown, designer boutiques - upscale - are on upper Madison Ave, trendier places are downtown, as is funky, retro and antique clothing.
To pick some clubs go to Time OUt New York - it will tell you what sort of music they have, if they are uber difficult to get in, or more open, price range etc. If you want trendy clubs assume big $, difficult to get in (look trendy and expensive and be prepared for long waits (unless they also do dinner and you go very early - 10 pm or so - and stay on for music) and the rules of the road. At many you get a table only if you buy a bottle for several hundred $.)
I won;t get on my hobby horse about bus tours - if that's what you want fine - but do realize that you will spend a lot of time siting in traffic and there are many places they can;t go.

"hotels (in the mid $ range)"
Please give us an actual dollar amount. Hotels in NYC can be very high-priced, so mid-range may be higher than you are expecting. Also keep in mind that any hotel rate you see will also be subject to additional 15% hotel tax.

Since New York has hundreds of bars, it sounds a bit ridiculous to recommend just one, but since we stumbled upon it:
The Rooftop Bar of the Empire Hotel (W 63 Street/Broadway/9th Av - right at Lincoln Center) is very hip (Rihanna gave her birthday party there and Serena Williams celebrates there). Splendid views over the city. Good cocktails, reasonably priced.
Expect to wait in line, so better come early. Fancy dress. Your age range. Lounge music.

1.urbandaddy.com & nymag.com/nightlife
2. kingofnyc.com
3. look for discounts you can buy in advance from the left column of broadwaybox.com
4. Asiate in the Mandarin Oriental hotel (35th floor of the Time Warner building at the southwest corner of Central Park) has lovely views and an elegant dining room for a pricey but memorable b/f.
The Park Room in the Helmsley Park Hotel on Central Park South is another idea. http://www.helmsleyparklane.com/rest...ark-hotels.asp
OR, head down to Soho for shopping and have breakfast at Balthazar.
Only you know what's "mid range" price for a hotel to you. Quikbook.com and kayak.com are sites I use for shopping hotels along with checking travelzoo.com and travel-ticker.com for specials. There are a bunch of new hotels like Fashion 26, Indigo, Eventi and even Trump Soho that may have introductory pricing for your dates. Here's a link for the special at Fashion 26 http://hotels.travelzoo.com/new-york-hotels/797789

Definitely check out the new hotels to see if any are offering budget prices for first guests. Also check out the discount sites listed. You may need to bid Priceline - if you're willing to share a bed, since they only promise a room with one double bed - since your budget is very low for NYC except in Jan or Feb.
The Jane has a basic cabin - bunk beds with shared bath for about $135 per night including tax - and is in a trendy downtown neighborhood

Honestly, that's a ridiculously low budget for NYC in June. You'll either need to
>stay in a private room in a hostel with shared bathroom (YMCA Vanderbilt is not a bad option),
>a hotel with shared bathroom (like the Jane or the Pod). The Belleclaire hotel which is pretty good on the upper west side has a queen room with shared bathroom for $149/night plus tax for the Sat. night
>a hotel just outside Manhattan like the Country Inn & Suites in Long Island City or,
>if you don't mind sharing a bed, you can try bidding on Priceline and see if your budget will work for your dates. But if you're just staying the Sat. night, you may have a problem since many hotels don't want to take a 1 night Sat. night stay.

If you are a fan of the show/movie, consider the Sex and the City tour. Lots of fun for a girls trip.
