NYC theater prefix dinner restaurant recommendations?

We are seeing Wicked on a Fri night at 8pm in March. Looking for a recommendation for a restaurant for a party of 6 for a pre-theater prefix? Also, would 6pm give us enough time before the show? Thanks!

If you're quick to decide what you want, fast eaters and don;t longer over coffee - and are close to the theater - yes.

We often either have a late lunch or just an appetizer before the show - so we're not sitting hours on a full stomach - and have a light supper afterwards.

What cuisines and budget?

My favorite, year after year -
http://www.westbankcafe.com/

Also a favorite of a friend who lives in the city.

Try for a 5:30 reservation and don't limit yourself to the relatively mediocre restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the theater district. Here is one recommendation not far from the Gershwin Theater on West 51st Street:

Estiatorio Milos, 125W55, outstanding Greek seafooder, four-course prix-fixe: $49 http://milos.ca/restaurants/new-york...t-theater-menu
Zagat: 27/24/24

Yes, I think that 6pm gives you plenty of time, even for a party of six as long as you go to a restaurant that's used to dealing with prix-fixe diners and that is relatively close to Wicked's theater between 50th/51 between Broadway and 8th Avenue.

I personally like ViceVersa, which is on West 51st, less than 5 minutes from the theater, even for slow walkers. It's a modern Italian restaurant and a place I often go. (But I also love Milos).

By the way, it's far too early to make a reservation, but you should do that about 2 weeks out.

Doug is quite right about 6 p.m. being enough time to enjoy your dinner.
Another good choice would be Thalia at 50th and 8th, not too far from the theater.

Thanks all, yes prix fixe, thanks for the correction I have 2 little ones and don't get much sleep these days, I knew it was wrong but didn't have the energy to fix it. I have a reservation through Opentable at west bank café but the only time I could get was 6:15pm. I'm going to try and make it a bit earlier if possible. I will check out the other suggestions though and see if something else appeals. Thanks so much!

If you have a 6:15 reservation and arrive at 6pm, you'll likely be seated immediately since the restaurant will likely be fairly empty. So there's no reason to change it unless you want to.
