OK - I'm truly an idiot - I did it again!! Please read and help!

Just need a few ideas/suggestions. My husband and son will be in NYC on Saturday 4th for one night - arriving around 3:00PM. Staying at the Marriott Eastside (Orpheum Theatre 525 Lexington Ave) because they are using points. They have 10:30 PM tickets to Stomp (theatre is at 126 2nd Avenue). Keeping the hotel and theatre locations and the timing in mind, I'm looking for suggestions:
- Fun things to do with a 16 year old for a few hours before dinner
- A restaurant suggestion for dinner
- A good place for a big breakfast (teenage boy eats a lot! will they be near Carnegie deli??)

Thanks in advance for suggestions!

If you're seeing Stomp, you are closer to Katz' Deli on Houston st. Do that for dinner if you want to have deli. If not, there are plenty of places in the East Village you can go.

At the Marriott Eastside, you'll be within walking distance (less than 20 minutes) from Carnegie Deli. The hotel is on Lex and 49th, and Carnegie is on 7th and 55th, so that's 4 long blocks and 5 short blocks.

If they want to eat before the theater - and down really close to the theater - which is also east village/funky/college area - which your son might like being in - there are lots of great, reasonable restaurants - here are some my kids have liked and still do (now early 20's)

Via della Pace: 48 E 7th (at 7th and 2nd) - delicious italian, reasonable prices
S.E.A. - 2nd between 4th adn 5th: super cheap, good and fast, thai food - but it can take a while to get a table but it's quick eating
Pylos - Greek - excellent - 128 E 7th between 1st and A -
Boca Chica: 1st and 1st - cuban/spanish flair - quesedilla, enchilada, rice, beans, some good seafood, etc

you can check these on the web, this is where my kids eat when I am not in the city with them, so prices are reasonable - if you are looking for "top restaurants" - b/c Dad is treating and son wouild enjoy, and they want a really nice dinner, then you could look at Hearth (at 12th and 1st and web page is www.restauranthearth.com ) Blue Water Grill, Gramercy Tavern, Union Sq. Cafe, but who knows if you can get a rezzie at many of these at this late date.

Also, is Stromboli at St Marks and 1st which is great for a late night slice of pizza after the show, b/c it is open until somewwhere around 4am

there is also Crif Dogs - on st Marks between 1st and A - this great hot dog place near there, with every kind of topping you can imagine, which is kind of fun -any kind of hot dogs wrapped in bacon w/ avocado, egg creams, shakes, tater tots, chili dogs, things you'd never imagine - and it is open I think also till somewhere around 4am - , but defnitely into the wee hours as many things are in this area b/c of the college kids - so he might like this after the show - this is like around the block from the thteater
more of an 'experience' than stromboli's

this area will be crowded b/c of the college and young kids who are down there - you should be ok rightr after the show getting something as far as funny/loud/drunk college kids which you don't seem to bump into unless it's between 1 and 4 am

but something like even the dogs after the show your son might get a kick out of -

JCee, just a strong word of warning...this particular Marriott is an older building -- street noise is extreme, to say the least (you may as well be sleeping on the sidewalk). Have your husband request a "quieter" room. Something other than on the Lex. Ave side (the opposite side of the building is adjacent to an alley way, much quieter). Forget a corner room; more windows, more noise.

You say how bad could it be? My husband grew up in the city, and could sleep through almost anything -- not here. It's that bad.

If he is using his rewards, they will want to make him happy -- trust me.

oh, i am like you hitting post too fast !!!

if they like seafood, look at The Mermaid Inn
on 2nd between 5th and 6th and their web is
www.beanstalkrestaurants.com - they have 3 restaurants but this is a good seafood place - around the corner basically from theater, check prices for your budget on line. entrees 18 - 24 that type of thing.

this and Hearth I think are close for you for walking easily but the other fancier rest's I mentioned are more in union sq area - which you could walk to theater from if you are comfortable and know what you are doing, but the ohters are all really close to theater.

For dessert: there is a place called Chikalicious
and it's on 10th st between 1st and 2nd - a dessert "bar" you sit and order desserts = that's all they serve - son might like this -
web is www.chikalicious.com - they open after new renovations in two days !!! go to web page - i think they are going to be open until 11:30 or until they sell out - but possibly b/c they are just reopening I am thinking they will be sold out before you even get out of the show.

or, if you think son would enjoy seeing union sq at night, walk over to something like blue water grill and just have dessert.

hope some of this helps - you had great suggestions for diners - I believe the famous skit from When harry met Sally happened in Katz' deli if that is something your son would like to know if he's seen that movie and ends up eating there.

I thought the "Harry met Sally" dialogue was filmed at the Central Park Boat House Cafe?

Escargot, you have the most mouth- watering list!

The famous fake "O" scene was filmed at Katz Deli.

Great food and I'd eat at Katz before I'd eat at Carnegie Deli. Both good but Katz is superior.
