nyc question?

Will be visiting nyc next month. We have stayed in midtown and the upper west side on several occassions, but now looking for something different. I have found a place in the east village "2nd home on 2nd ave.", does anyone have any information about this guesthouse and/or the location (two blocks from union square station)?

The location is good. There are tons of little restaurants, bars and shops in the area. Also, being near Union Square is convenient for subway accessibility.

The only issue I can think of could be street noise, depending on what floor you are on, and what is nearby. I am not failiar with that guesthouse. The East VIllage is a lively area.

Thanks for the reply. Street noise and nyc kind of go together, don't they?

It is the second floor and there is no elevator. There is a bar next door. Those who I know stayed there liked it.

There are many wonderful restaurants including the Ssam bar, a half block away and is highly acclaimed.

There is also Bar Carerra, a San Sebastian type of tapas bar and Cacio e Pepe, a romano restaurant. Those are a whole block and 1/2 away.

And that is just the beginning.

More or less . . . but there is a busy bus stop right in front of this place, as well as more than one bar on the same side of the street. A room in the back might have no view whatsoever, but more quiet.

I live a few blocks from here--it's a great neighborhood for restaurants and quirky shops.

Thanks for the information about the noise, the location, and the 2nd floor with no elevator. The wife says we will stay elsewhere.
