DH & I will be in NYC for one week at the end of April. Is it a good idea to pre-book entry times to Ground Zero and the Top of the Rock in advance? How soon should I book? I thought I would wait until the week prior to our departure to see what the weather will be like. I'm just not sure how busy it will be at this time of the year.
Thanks!

It is called the 9/11 Memorial and yes, it is a good idea to prebook. I think the Top of the Rock you can just show up which is a good because you won't want to go if it's rainy I suppose.
You have to get a timed ticket to visit the 9/11 Memorial, and it's free to prebook online, so there's no reason not to do it. But you can also get a timed ticket if you get a water taxi transfer at the Intrepid (and it's much faster to get downtown that way, albeit kind of expensive). So it's really your choice.
It's not at all worthwhile or necessary to prebook Top of the Rock. There's rarely a lengthy wait for a timed ticket.
Please do not say Ground Zero - that is very offensive to the people who lost loved ones there. You can call if the 9/11 Memorial or the WTC - not Ground Zero - which makes it sound like part of a video game. And yes, you need to book in advance.
For Top of the Rock you can just walk up - or if you want to be sure of a specific time (sunset?) you can reserve day of.
My sincere apologies. I did not mean to be disrespectful and I thank you for correcting me.
So, I will go ahead and book an entry time for the 9/11 Memorial on-line. Good to know that we can just arrive to go to the Top of the Rock.
Thanks.
