NYC - Pastrami sandwich near library, Grand Central Station, St Patrick's

We'll be in the areas of the Central Library, Grand Central Terminal, and St Patrick's Cathedral tomorrow. Anywhere I can treat my husband to a wonderful, NY style pastrami sandwich? And/or one of those beautiful Carnegie Deli style cheesecakes?

Yes, 2nd Ave is our favorite. We just a had a visit from a friend from Yorkshire who had never had Jewish deli and was overwhelmed.

For cheese cake there is a Junior's in the Theater District and 10-15 minute walk from GCT. Still among the best in the City.

Junior's also has pretty good pastrami. If you take the shuttle from Grand Central to Times Square, you'll be much closer, and it's a much faster trip.

In addition to Second Avenue Deli, there's Sarge's, which is a tad closer, on 3rd Avenue between 36th and 37th streets. They have good and sometimes great pastrami (it definitely varies a bit), about 1/3 cheaper than 2nd Avenue Deli. And pretty good cheesecake. But it's not exactly the same experience, but it's my go-to place for pastrami.

Also, if you're in either Times Square or near Carnegie Hall, the Brooklyn Diner also has very good cheesecake (and macaroni & cheese).

Great pastrami sandwich at 2nd Ave Deli, thank you! Haven't made it for cheesecake yet. I'm hoping to grab one tomorrow before we leave.

Many consider the best cheesecake in NYC, S & S in the Bronx. There they have a hole-in-the-wall retail operation, but sell to restaurants around the City including steakhouses.

I googled to whom they sell but came up empty.

If anyone knows where it sold, that could be helpful.

Also in The Bronx are the best cannoli I have had at Egidio's on Arthur Ave.

There is also hispster pastrami place in Manhattan called Harry's and Ida's. And they just opened a new restaurant but we have not been there.
