NYC- LaGuardia to Rye

I'll be landing in LaGuardia with my 4 year old at 11pm on a weekday- our final destination is Rye- I'm contemplating taking a Grand Central train to get there for fun. Other option is a cab or car service from LGA straight to Rye but first option is more of an adventure...
looking for tips/opinions on a) should i do this at all being so late at night b) if not, cab or car service to rye? c) if yes, best way to get to grand central from LGA d) how to get to rye from grand central e) will a cab take me from rye station to rye hotel
- thanks...

I would not do this via GC/train at 11pm WITHOUT a 4yr old. By the time you get to GC by taxi then wait for the next infrequent Metro North RR train you'd already be at your hotel.

It is 20mi From LGA to Rye - I'd take a taxi or car service like Carmel.

If you want an adventure, take the 4yr old to Rye playland.

Rye hotels are can be pretty far from train station, but regardless - no way on earth would I do this trip by train.

At that hour, with a 4 year old, I'd agree - car service or taxi.

And yes, go to Playland!

If you're landing at LaGuardia at 11 PM, be aware of the last train from Grand Central to Rye on a weekday is 11:39 PM. Unless you made excellent Time in a taxi to Grand Central, there's no way you'd make that last train, and the taxi fare directly to Rye wouldn't be much more anyway.

Agree with others. Besides at 11 pm a 4 year old doesn't want an adventure - they're probably half asleep anyway. Just get a car service. Carmel or Dial 7 are fine - and be sure to check their web sites for coupons.

There are trains at 12:25 am (probably the first train you can make - or 1:10 am) but if you do take it you will have to search for a cab at the Rye train station in the early hours which can also take a half hour or more.

Just altogether a really long trip and bad idea.

My bad – I forgot the very early morning trains at 12:25 and 1 AM wouldn't be listed in the evening schedule. It's still a terrible idea.

You dont say where you're coming from or what time zone your bodies will be on but you may be better staying the night at a LGA hotel and travelling to Rye in the morning.
