NYC Kid Friendly Restaurant

Can anyone recommend a child friendly (baby & toddler) restaurant near Macy's Herald Square or even near east 40th street by fifth ave?

Tony's in Times Square is "kid friendly," from what I've been told.

In fact, I'd imagine most of the restaurants in that area are, given the demographic that frequents them.

Not really sure what you're looking for in terms of price/food/breakfast lunch or dinner . . . but here goes with some suggestions:

For lunch: fast upscale sort of Italian cafeteria/take out/pastas, sandwiches can get hectic: Mangia 16 E. 48th St.
Burger Heaven - good burgers, ok salads, coffee shop atmosphere 20 E. 49th

Hale and Hearty Soups have an outlet on 42nd and 5th, too.

Around Macy's - unless you're looking for korean BBQ - which might be problematic with young children - there's not a lot - more chains like cosi, Chipotle, Hale and hearty . . . .
maybe you should use the neighborhood search function on www.menupages.com

Agree with the chains along Bryant Park -- Cosi, Chipotle. Also, it's a few blocks up, but Virgil's on 44th (between 6th and Broadway) would be great too. I know you're trying to steer clear from Times Square, but if you walk in off of 6th you can usually avoid the madness!

There's a restaurant IN Macy's that would be fine (but busy if you're going to visit Santa). Ben's Kosher deli on 38 st & 7th ave. is not far from Macy's and is a very good deli. If the kids like hot dogs, they're good there. They have a kids' menu.

There's a Heartland Brewery at 5th & 34 st. (Empire STate building) but it will be jammed.

on 42 st. just east of 5th ave. there's a big cafeteria style eatery that has everything you could imagine (soup, pizza, salad, sandwiches, hot food) and seats upstairs.

Food Trends is good.

You will also find options inside Grand Central Terminal (42 st & Lexington) where there's a Two Boots Pizza and a Junior's (deli famous for their cheesecake).
