paul444,
If you click on your name, all your posts will come up, not that there is much help there. The best bet is to check all the info available already in this forum, and under DESTINATIONS, above.

I don't know about things that are particular to Nov., it may be hard to tell this early, unless the Sheraton concierge has advance info on what will be at the museums, etc. I have stayed at the Sheraton Manhattan and was able to get the concierge to help me ahead of time (in my pre-Fodors days, don't think I'd even need it now). I am planning a 4 day trip to NY in May and have found a wealth of info just searching on here. After researching threads by searching for "new york" in the search box (and there were so many I only read the last few months of them), I had only had one very pointed question left about dining that I had to post. I was able to fill up the entire time w/museum and sightseeing choices, decide on Broadway shows for my daughter and me, and get feedback on my hotel choices, just by searching prior threads.

Hi Paul, not sure what type of things you like to do, but we went to NYC last November right before Thanksgiving and here is what we did: Arrived in the cold and rain - so we started at at Le Pain Quotidien (833 Lexington Avenue, btwn 63rd & 64th) for breakfast (excellent), went to the Frick Museum, which I can not recommend enough (get the audio guide if you visit this museum) saw the "Today Show", the Museum of Natural History, went to the movies, checked the holiday windows and participated in a free tour run by the Grand Central Partnership. If you want to do this, meet on 42nd Street in front of the Phillip Morris/ Whitney Museum across the street from Grand Central on Fridays at 12:30 for more information call (212) 697-1245. Tour was very well done. Went to a holiday fair at GCT, went down to SoHo & the Village, went to the Guggenheim from there walked across the park to the Upper West Side. Went to Arte Cafe for lunch (it was excellent), shopped at Fishs Eddy, Zabar's, etc. Saw the Producers (excellent), walked at night taking in all the shop windows, holiday lights, etc. Went to a holiday fair at Union Square (excellent) went to the Strand Bookstore, and walked around Grammercy park area (great architecture). In between this we shopped, walked, and made several stops for coffee and dessert. We have been to NYC many times, so our plans could vary greatly from yours depending on weather or not you have been to the city before. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Since we have no idea of what your interests are, your age (young, old, etc.). how many in your group, how much you want to spend, etc., etc., etc......it's kind of difficult to make any suggestions or recommendations, except to get a travel book or two and do some research here and elsewhere first. (And please, don't start another new thread on the same subject!)

Sorry that my post upset you. I was only trying to be helpful. And, I still say, if you'd provide information that would help us suggest activities that would fit in with your interests, you'd get a lot much helpful advice. The fact that you've only gotten four responses (including my two) in 27 hours might add some credence to my suggestion.

Agree with HowardR. We dont know if you like modern art or clog dancing, photography or nature hikes, zoos or museums or shopping or philately or what???! There are so many things to see and do - you could be missing the things you would enjoy most by not providing a little backgound info.

It seem minimally that one should do a little homework before asking "What to do in NYC." It's kind of like saying, "What is there to do in Europe." Spend some time reading this website and then bring more specific questions. That way people can be more helpful.

New York City in the fall is gorgeous.
My favorite is strolling around CENTRAL PARK , just taking it all in. Great for relaxing, reading, watching people and picture taking. Have lunch at the BOAT HOUSE if you can. Very pretty. It has the Merry-Go-Round, Zoo, lake, big boulders for kids to climb etc. For an enchanting evening another favorite of mine is PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (I see it every year). There's a reason why it's still running since the late 80s. You'll love it. Walking/Running the BROOKLYN BRIDGE towards Manhattan skyline is also very special and again, great picture taking. One of NYC's best pizzeria , ice cream and brunch/view are right over the Bklyn Bridge, GRIMALDI'S (on Old Fulton) , BKLYN Ice cream Factory (Water St) and the RIVER CAFE (Water St), excellent view, day or night, great atmosphere and good food. I prefer it during the day. Take a cab to any of the 3 and walk 1 block to the other 2. River Cafe and Ice Cream Factory are right next to each other. Have a wonderful time.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is beautiful. There is a wide variety of art from different time periods. The Museum of Natural History is another must see. If you go, be sure to visit the dinosaur exhibit. You are staying in an excellent location to travel the city. You might also want to consider one of the tour buses that you can get on and off all day. For shopping, Fifth Avenue can't be beat. There are many upscale stores as well as more reasonably priced ones. Cental Park is beautiful at that time of year. For your anniversary consider a horse and buggy ride. Don't worry, if it is cold,a blanket is always provided. You may also want to look into a Broadway show. The Wednesday before Thankingsgiving should have afternoon and evening performances. Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy your time here in New York.
