NYC Drink with a View

Any ideas for a lounge/bar with a good view of night time NY? Prefer midtown west area as we're staying on 46th St. Thanks.

I know that the bar at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Columbus Circle has a nice view. The bar at the top of the Marriott Marquis has a view as well.

Here's the problem with the Mandarin Oriental. The main bar is always reserved mostly for guests of the hotel. Everytime I've been there it's been perfectly empty and they won't let you sit there. That's the bar with the best view. the bar where you can actually grab a drink has windows that let you see a little sliver of central park.

Surely someone else can suggest some other place.

The Ritz Carlton downtown has a roof bar with fantastic views out over the harbor if you're willing to head downtown.

The View at the Marriott Marquis is the only place in NYC that revolves. The food at the restaurant itself is overpriced and mediocre food but the view is great so go for a drink. Just be prepared to pay a lot for it. (45th st. & Broadway) I think they charge a cover after a certain hour. The Broadway Lounge on the 8th floor of the hotel has a view overlooking Times Square.

The Rainbow Grill in Rockefeller Center has been a quintessential spot for drink and view but there's a dispute b/w the restaurant and their landlord so not sure it's open.

The Peninsula Hotel has a rooftop bar with view (55th st.) and the Dream hotel in Times Square area also ~ 55th st. has the Ava lounge on the roof (not as high as the others).

Go to the top of the Dream Hotel (55th & Broadway) for a drink at the outdoor roof top Ava Lounge. It has an amazing night time view and isn't over the top for snob appeal. We've never had a problem getting in post-show.

The Ritz is beautiful in the afternoon as well. I was stunned at how cool it was.

The Top of the Tower at the Beekman Tower Hotel has a great view of the east side.

I think the Rise Bar at the Battery Park Ritz Carlton has closed. Doublecheck to make sure it is still open before you go.

The views from "The View" at Marriott are obstructed by buildings.

There are nice views of Times Square, etc., from the outdoor deck off the lobby bar at Novotel.
