NYC Clubs for live music
I am taking my 21 yr. old daughter and her friend to NYC this coming Sunday through Tuesday. Sunday night we are having dinner at Le Village close to Thomkins Sq. park in the East Village. Monday night we are seeing Buckwheat Zydeco at City Winery on Monday night. We are staying in Chelsea (Four Points).
I'd like recs for some live music clubs to take them to after dinner on Sunday night and after City Winery on Monday night. Not looking for young thing nightclubs. Just some good live music. I am thinking of the Groove close to Washington Square one night, but need other suggestions.
Are there any rooftop places they might like? We could go to one of those even without the live music.
Thank you in advance.

If you have a look at Time Out New York online it will list everyplace that ha live music with full details.
Rooftop bars are often very expensive and their can be lines/waits depending on which days and times you go - I would definitely get reservations - and check out drink prices in advance.

Thanks. I know there are lots of lists and descriptions online, but I was hoping for some recommendations from people who have been to the places re atmosphere, music, what they are really like.
Topping in case anyone else has experience to share...

The music varies substantially as does who is performing at places with the right atmosphere. It is like when people write I am coming to NY and I want to go to a comedy club. There is everything in comedy from Carrot Top to Lewis Black and rarely those two audiences will meet.

If you are arriving early enough on Sunday, Hotel Chantelle does a live jazz brunch: http://hotelchantelle.com/dining/brunch/
I also like Arthur's - it is a bit divey though http://www.arthurstavernnyc.com/

I was in nyc 2 wks ago and 3anted to report back on this thread I started that since this thread I have gone twice to Zinc Club in the Village. Really enjoyed it both times. Small bar in front and live music space beyond it. We saw a Brazilian jazz singer and her band one night, very very good, and my husband was up dancing. Saw another jazz/r&b group other time, also very good. There was a $15 cover but worth it, long sets and good strong drinks. Thus place is on my list now.
