Lines for taxis can be long at Penn Station. You might have better luck by exiting onto 7th rather than 8th Avenue, though the NJ Transit exits. However, you are within very easy walking distance to that address (maybe 10 minutes at most). It's easier to go up to 35th and then across to 5th Avenue. Unless you have a lot of luggage, you'll definitely get there faster on foot than by a taxi. Or you could take the city bus, which stops immediately outside the Long Island Railroad exit on 34th Street (I can sometimes get a taxi there, though less so during the middle of the day when traffic is heavy).

Would you like to
1 going from Penn station to hotel, check in, let your luggage and then walking to your appointment
2 or going from Penn station to 373 fifth avenue ?

And wil you have some heavy luggage or only few and easy to take with...
That´s real questionss to know if it is do-able by feet ...

There are taxi stands outside Penn Station on both 7th and 8th Aves. You would want 7th - since you are going downtown.

Depending on conditions (rain is worse) you will probably have to wait 10 or 15 minutes to get a cab. You can probably walk it in that if you have only a handbag or a small bag you can put on your shoulder. If you have luggage that has to be wheeled I would take a cab.

Actually 373 Fifth is not downtown. It's on 35th Street. That's why I recommended 7th Ave., not because the OP was headed downtown.
