Nv-Az-Ut Itinerary- Plans
Tentative itinerary for early April. Thoughts?
Day 1- Arrive Vegas midday - Strip, sites etc.
Day 2- Any unseen sites, possibly Red Rocks, Hoover Dam(not sure want to stop here on way to G.C. for arrival time purposes)
Day 3- Drive to Grand Canyon. Light hike- stay over night
Day 4- G.C. - leave late afternoon-5pm- for Page Az. - currently no vacancy at G.C. this night- may stay if one opens up , early start for Zion ok though.
Day 5 - Zion early. Get oriented, light hike.
Day 6- Zion - hike, possible horseback.
Day 7- Zion - if much left undone and energy to do may stay over or head to Vegas late.
Day 8 - Depart Noon. would it be risky driving from Zion to Vegas on day of flight?
If we wanted to wait as late as Day 2/3 to book at Zion / Springdale is that safe or is there a high chance there might be slim pickin's?
Thanks for any info, tips.

Solo trip? Day 1 drive up the Strip as far as Charleston. Turn left on Charleston and head west about 12 miles to Red Rock Canyon. Drive the 17 mile loop making a few stops. When coming back toward the city, turn south on Rt. 215 which will tie into I-215 toward Henderson. Stay at the Fiesta hotel/casino. The rooms are OK but when I reserved ahead they upgraded us to a suite on the 10th floor for the same price. By staying in Henderson, you get enough of a head start so that you can spend an hour at Hoover Dam. DO NOT try to stay in Zion area and make it back to the rental car facility in time to get through security for your flight. I have stayed at the Fiesta, ate breakfast at their Denny's and got the rental back on time.

2 of us -ironically coming from Charleston...SC - so Mt Charleston is a natural Already booked in Vegas but thanks for the tip. Since we're limiting our time there went ahead and booked on the strip. Got a great rate but will keep thinking on that one.
Considering both of your thoughts - rush hour and rental car- will not stay the extra night in Zion. Better to play it safe and have a relaxed morning before we head out.
Otherwise, do-able and not too rushed?

Myer- True. Page is a stop-over between G.C. and Zion to break up the drive and avoid the road so late. If time permits on morning of Day 5 may check out. I know there's more to it than a "stop-over" but don't wanna pack too much in and be rushed just for the sake of it. Had to narrow down quality time to G.C. and mostly Zion. But thanks, I asked and you told me.
