Start in N.B. try St. Andrews by the sea. A small but beautiful resort town on the Bay of Fundy just a half hour from the US border. accomodation from large luxury resort hotel to great B&B's. beautiful old homes, easy to see in a day or so. Can go whale watching, golfing, lots of arts & culture activies. From there an hour to Saint John then ferry over to N.S. Annapolis valley a nice drive and area. Halifax an interesting city. can get ferry back to Bar Harbour from Yarmouth OR from St. Andrews drive across to PEI terrific beaches, golfing. OR through to Cape Breton if its specatular scenery and scottish culture you like. Fortress Louisbourg definately a must see and the cabot Trail, Ingonish, Baddeck. Takes about 9 hours to drive to cape Breton from St. Anrews. Have fun and welcome to the Maritimes!

Good advise above. I live in Halifax and stayed in St. Andrews last summer. Very nice place. The ferry from Saint John to Digby is close and a good chocie. Whale watching tours abound. The South Shore of Nova Scotia is very nice with a number of great white-sand beaches, including one you can drive on. There are also a good number of rocky coastlines with old lighthouses. Peggy Cove, en route to Halifax is also breathtaking.
Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail is my personal favorite. The trail can be done in a day, but give yourself at least two so you can enjoy Louisburg and stop in Beddeck — a fabulous small town. The people don't get any friendlier. Good luck and have a nice trip.

Nova Scotia is breathtaking and June is a wonderful time (especially late June) because the tourists sites are just opening but there aren't many tourists yet!! Do not, under any circumstances, miss the Cabot Trail. It is unforgettable. I echo all the wonderful advice from above. You will adore Nova Scotia-I can't wait to return someday!

You have to come see Nova Scotia. It is the most beautiful province (next to British Columbia). The Island of Cape Breton is a must see. The scenery is outstanding as well are the people. Alot of history is in this province and it is easily accessible.
You can even go to a casino in Halifax(capital) or Sydney. Next to Halifax is Peggy's cove, a must see.

It is an absolute must to come to Cape Breton. The scenery is beautiful and the hospitality generous. Some must see places are: The Fortress of Louisbourg - incidently just 15 minutes from my house, the Alexander Graham Bell Museum - in Baddeck, The Cabot Trail - the Keltic Lodge is pricey, but the view is breath-taking, as well as one of Canada's top rated golf courses along the Atlantic Ocean. Plus the Margaree - a world class Atlantic salmon fishing river. The traditional Celtic music is a must at any pub in the downtown Sydney area. Sydney is the nucleus of all of the aforementioned places. The Cabot Trail is app. a 2 hr. drive from Sydney. The Fortress of Louisbourg is just 40 min. from Sydney. Come to Cape Breton and experience the trip of a lifetime!!!! Email for more info...have a great trip.

Our family was so taken with Nova Scotia that we decided some 15+ years ago to get a summer home there. Where you go in NS depends on what you like. If you are into "touristy" things, then making the trip to Peggy's Cove is a "must". If you like out of the way places, fishing villages, whale watching, I'd recommend the Evangeline Trail, toward Digby, and Highway 217 on two Westport, NS. By planning ahead, you can get excellent reservations at a reasonable cost to spend a night in Westport - the end of the line after two 10 minute ferry rides costing $1.00 round trip. Ferry service is hourly. I'd also recommend you consider going/returning from Portland, Maine via the Scotia Prince (over night to NS, day to Maine) or the Bluenose out of Bar Harbor. Both CN Marine (Bluenose) and Prince of Fundy Cruises (Scotia Prince) have 800 toll free numbers for schedules/information. POFCruises also has a seasonal brochure which is yours for the asking. Most people who have been to Nova Scotia look for the chance to return. Although June is warm in the U.S bring a sweater with you to NS as daytime highs can range from 60 (or less) to 75F.

I`ve lived here for over 20 years! I think the ferry is a good option. NS has a toll free number: 1-800-565-0000. Ask for the Doer`s and Dreamer`s guide which is a general information book about the province; all inclusive. Ask also for a road map.
