North Myrtle Beach or Litchfield Beach and Pawley's Island

Hi,

My boyfriend and I will be spending a few days in Charleston. We then want to go to the beach for a day (Sunday) before returning to Durham, NC. We thought that we would go to Sullivan's Island but cannot find nice accomodations for under $160. Would you suggest that we stay at Serendipity Inn in North Myrtle Beach or another hotel there, in the Litchfield Beach area, or go to another beach? We are trying to find the most convenient beach to go to on the way back to Durham that is nice and has a nice room for under $160 per night.

Thanks!

What are your dates?

There are two or three B&Bs on Pawleys Island The Pelican Inn and the two other names escape me.

July-August you'll have a hard time finding reasonable beach accommodations for under $150.

I checked out Serendipity the last time I was in the area and it was cute. I stay nearby at the Hampton Inn and like it too.

You can walk to the beach from Serendipity (down the street) and would have to drive and park from the Hampton Inn)

Look at Litchfield Golf and Beach Resort. You should be able to do better than that there. Even the Litchfield Inn is on the beach and has been renovating.

My son will be attending Duke this fall, and our family is looking for a place to visit after we move him in. We'd like to stay at a very nice resort on the water. Maybe Asheville? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help! Our dates are May 12-13 for the beach. This is after a trip to Charleston on our way back to Durham, NC.

Asheville is in the mountains. If you want to go to the beach, look around Wilmington/Wrightsville.
