North Myrtle Beach Father/Son trip
Planning a golf vacation with my 16-yr old son for the end of March. We have the courses narrowed down to two "packages", #1 The Glens and #2 Tidewater/Grande Dunes/Pine Lakes/River Hills. We also have the lodging narrowed to a condo at Glen Lakes or the Avista Resort. So we either stay at the course and enjoy nothing but golf, or we stay at the beach and mix the best of both worlds. We are going back and forth on this and would appreciate any comments/insight either way.

I think it depends on where you are coming from. If you live in the north, you might find the beach pleasant in March. It can be, but it can also be chilly, for us. If you live in a landlocked place, you'll enjoy seeing the ocean first thing in the morning. MB won't be crowded that time of years, so you won't have to fight traffic to get to the golf course.

Thanks Sue. We actually will be coming in from northern Ohio, so you are correct on the ocean view. My concern on the beach condo is noise (it appears Avista is a large resort) and the potential of Spring Breakers. Although my son thinks that would be cool (go figure). Me, on the other hand, like the idea of a quiet golf villa............

There may be spring breakers there but it really isn't warm enough for wet t shirt contests. They head for warmer climes. Talk to the owner/contact person about your concerns and see what they say. I know a lot of those condos are rented by absentee owners, so they may know nothing about what's going on next door. Did you think about a hotel? That way you can move rooms if it's too noisy.
