North Fork Vineyards/ Greenport Long Island trip planning

Does anyone have any suggestions for hotels/vineyards in the Northfork, Greenport area?
I am looking to plan a getaway in June with my boyfriend (we are in our 30's).
Any information including restaurants, nice hotels, and vineyards to visit would be greatly appreciated!

We recently updated our Long Island coverage on Fodors.com, so you can get a pretty exhaustive list of the best wineries on our site here: http://www.fodors.com/world/north-am...k/long-island/

Obviously these listings aren't going to take the place of personal recommendations (and I can't make those because I've never done a winery-hopping trip in Long Island), but it's a good place to start your research.

We also list hotels and restaurants all of the island.

I've spent my summers in the area for the past 10 years or so, and I will be happy to help you.

In addition to hotels, there are many good B&Bs, although since I have no need of accommodations, I do not have extensive experience on lodgings. Of those I am aware of, you might look into Shinn Estate Farmhouse, run by a couple who once owned a very popular restaurant in the Village (NYC) and now devote themselves to making (well rated) wines and running this inn offering 4 guest rooms. I would book as soon as possible here, or anywhere else for June.

Close to my own house, the Orient Inn is very nice; this is near the end of the island and just outside the hamlet of Orient which is quite unusual for Long Island…lovely to stroll around, stop for great pies and ice cream we do not have much commerce this far out apart from a general store here, and in the next town west, East Marion, which also has a store). Disclaimer: I know the owners.

Yet another idea, in Greenport and run by people I know (not well) is Stirling House B&B, very well reviewed on TA:

There is a hotel in Greeport itself that might interest you (there are others but I would look at this first); many palces have minimum stays in summer and on weekends:

Finally, the best restaurrant on the North Fork by consensus is the North Fork Table, run by two well known chefs; they also have an inn, and there is a food truck on site for lunches.

I can offer restaurant ideas as well, once you settle on your hotel base.

The North Fork is not that big, so don't feel limited to the Greenport area. Also, depending on how much time you are spending there and your interests, ther is also the South Fork (with the Hamptons) not so far away. Riverhead, at the "base" of the North Fork has a few things, too, including an aquarium.

We do our visits as daytrips, so no lodging info. Wineries: there are many, some of excellent quality. There is plenty of info on line. We like to go to one on the weekend if they have live music. Osprey's Dominion, close to Greenport, has decent wines, inexpensive tastings, good music, and is set up for BYO picnics, with plenty of picnic tables and no annoying restrictions. Recommended restaurants of varying types that we like: the Petualant Wino, A Mano, Allure, Grana. There are plenty of others. Tripadviser will tell you about them.

Don't feel tied down to the tip of the fork.

I will wait for the OP to return before offering restaurant suggestions, but I will agree now that Grana in Jamesport is our personal favorite for pizza and other Italian dishes. We always take home a loaf of their bread:

Thank you so much everyone!

Does anyone know anything about Hyatt hotel in Riverhead? We were hoping to stay in Greenport or North Fork, but it looks like the time we want to visit in June does not have any availability.

Can you clarify what you wrote above--did you find NO availability in all of the hotels you checked on the North Fork for your dates in June?

Riverhead would be an all right place to stay, I suppose. If you mean the Hyatt East End, it looks ok. You could do daytrips further east to the wineries. One of the best of all the NF wineries is just east of Riverhead in Aquebogue: Paumanok. I am familiar only with their whites and they are excellent, if on the pricey side.

Riverhead is just about a 10 minute or so drive to Grana in Jamesport:
