North Carolina or South Carolina?

Sounds like Myrtle Beach would probably be o.k. or in or around the area. Depends on how busy you want to be. I am sure the teens would keep active in Myrtle Beach. Pawleys Island has many homes for rents and in surrounding areas. We stayed at Kingston Plantation in MB for a week. It was very nice, right on the beach, very nice grounds. I am not a big fan of MB but it is busy and entertaining if you are traveling with teens.

Hi Bill,
Agree with the other poster about MB...yuck...we love Pawley's Island, try Litchfield Plantation if you like golf as well as beach. However it is DULL for teens. Thus I would probably say Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina, a gorgeous beach and more happening in the region. On the other hand, we used to own a cottage in Holden Beach, NC, about midway between Wrightsville and MB, and everyone loved it! You can check it out on the internet and rent a gorgeous home. It is a shrimp port and has nice farm markets on the mainland so if you want to cook at home you can dine like kings! The water in the ocean in both places is very warm and pleasant in summer. I personally strongly recommend renting a house over a hotel in terms of comfort, convenience, etc. if you don't mind cooking at home for at least breakfast, and picnicking on the beach at lunch. There is a great restaurant right on Wrightsville Beach Pier. If you go to Pawley's Island, be sure to visit Litchfield Plantation even if you don't stay there, it is a gorgeous historic rice plantation from the 1700s, haunted, and one of the prettiest places I have ever seen in the south. You can rent condos there and use their facilities (pool, and beach front cottage).

Went to Myrtle Beach last summer with teenagers. Stayed right downtown near the Pavilion. Lots to do within a few blocks. Kids had a great time. Oceanfront hotels late summer Sun-Thurs are reasonable and across the street from the beach is very inexpensive. Sun-Thurs. was less crowded that Thurs-Sun too.
