No place to stay on Lk Champlain?

I hope someone can help me!!! We love Lk George, but its getting to be that you can't see the trees through the motels! We want a eff or cottage with simple ammenities (Swimming, fishing maybe a movie somewhere) ON LAKE CHAMPLAIN. I dont know Stowe from Barre. Can anyone suggest a nice place that likes kids and isnt the Bates Hotel? Thanks bunches! Were coming up from the shores of Long Is. NY
