No accomodation in Hana...should we forget about it?

My husband & I are leaving this Sunday for Hawaii to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We've booked 5 nights in South Maui then planning on heading to Hana (something romantic) for 2 nights (Aug 1&2), then leaving for Big Island on August 3rd. I've practically enquired at every single cottage/B&B/hotel and NO availability OR we have to buy groceries and cook as there don't seem to be many restaurant options. And we don't mind buying groceries and cooking if we were finding a nice cottage for two nights, but were not. And we really don't want to do the drive there and back in one day plus we only have the condo in South Maui for 5 nights and cant change it to 6 or 7 nights - in any event we don't want to stay there for longer.

My question to the community is: Should I continue to look at going to Hana and book one night at one hotel and one night at another OR go somewhere else that is enroute and has some restaurants and is quaint? If so, where? Most importantly...where to stay that's available Aug 1 & 2 with a budget between $150-$200/night.
