Nicest places to stay in Zion/Bryce

My family plans to travel to Zion/Bryce in May. I'm seeking suggestions re the nicest places to stay near each park. (The park lodges are already full.) Thanks!

Near Zion you can stay at:
The Desert Pearl Inn--www.desertpearl.com, every room is a suite here with vaulted ceilings, thick carpets, cushy throw pillows,Roman shades, oversize windows, bidets, sleeper sofas, and tile showers with deep tubs. The pool area here is also said to be really beautiful. (rates are between $70-150)
Near Bryce, probably the best place you can stay at is:
The Bard's Inn Bed and Breakfast which has handcrafted quilts on the beds, antiques in all the rooms, and offers a delicious full breakfast.

We stayed at Flanigan's Inn outside of Zion and enjoyed one of their suites. All on this board love Desert Pearl the best--I just thought it wasn't right for us with kids. There is also a nice looking newer hotel at the southernmost tip of Springdale. Something with Mountain in the name. Looked very nice. Someone here may know the name.

We stayed at the Bryce Lodge so no help there.

For Zion take the Best Western in Springdale. Its near the park entrance. For Bryce we stayed in HATCH; pAUL

We also stayed at Flanigans. The room was so large and comfortable that it seemed like a suite. Free bus to the park stops across the street.

I would keep calling the parks because you can often get in on a cancelation.

If not, definitely the Desert Pearl for Zion. We stayed there with our children; it's absolutely amazing in so many ways, just lovely and also family friendly. Great front desk staff!

For Bryce, Ruby's was just fine - clean and spacious. Huge indoor pool and nightly rodeo were also fun.

Click on my name for several of our 3-3.5 week cross country trip reports.

Another vote for The Desert Pearl Inn in Springdale. We also stayed there with our children and found it to be family friend. The pool area is beautiful.

In Bryce, we stayed at the Best Western Ruby's Inn. Our room was very basic, but clean. For us, it was fine. I was told that the rooms in the main lodge are nicer. I would stay there again without hesitation, as the other lodging choices didn't seem any better.

Flanigan's has two bedroom suites, with large living area and good sized TV, and then a few steps up to two completely separate bedrooms and a full shared bath. There are two of these 2 bedrm. suites located in the back of their property, which makes them very private and a bit away from the rest of the hotel. Plus both of those units have their own very nice private stone patios. I went w/a friend, but wanted more privacy than a combined room affords, and this was the very best option for us. Plus Flanigans has a wonderful, reasonably priced spa now (am I the only one who has gotten a massage or other treatment there after a day of hiking?) - and they have the Spotted Dog Cafe onsite for a good dinner when you just don't want to even walk or drive anywhere after the hiking and massage. Flanigan's pool is on the small side but is fine, w/a separate jacuzzi. I am not sure how it ranks along side Desert Pearl's pool.

The bath in those 2 bedroom suites is not "shared" as in being physically between the two bedrooms. It is a separate bath in a hallway between the two bedrooms.

Consider staying in Tropic if you can't get into Bryce. Do a search for lots of ideas on here to stay there

Has anyone stayed at the Desert Pearl in February? Or in the winter? Is anything open?

You should be able to get accomodations within Zion without too much trouble in the winter.

You could also consider a B&B in Springdale of which there 3 or 4. We stayed at the excellent Novel House, tucked away just off the main road through the town. Delghtful rooms named after authors, welcoming hosts, fine breakfast.
