Niagara Falls, New York

Hello, I am going on a road trip from Chicago to Maine and we are thinking of stopping at Niagara Falls. I have never been there -- any suggestions on where to stay? Is there fun stuff for a five year old to do? Hiking? Anything else around that area?

Thanks so much!

There's a bunch of fun stuff - but it's mostly - but not all - on the Canadian side: Maid of the Mist, the falls themselves, the walk beneath the falls.

There is a large park on the New York side - I believe a little further up the river.

You should definiely go to Niagara Falls. Stay at the Embassy Suites on the Canadian side, and get a fallsview room on one of the top floors. They also have a big, nice pool.

We have reservations for the Embassy Suites deluxe fallsview room. Pretty pricey but a one time deal for us so I guess it is worth the extra. I am very excited about going.

The Canadian side is definately preferred, but you may want to check on the passport situation. I'm not positive, but I believe you need a passport to cross now.
