Newport, RI restaurant recommendations

We always go to the same restaurants when we are there because we know we like them! In an effort to try new places, I am looking for a couple lunch and dinner spots. We perused menus and were thinking of trying Café Zelda (on Thames St) for dinner. Has anyone ever been there? Also, what lunch spots would you recommend?

We will be going this month, and since it is off-season I know Black Pearl and White Horse Tavern are closed for the month.

Castle Hill Inn, 590 Ocean Drive, is, hands down, the best dining experience we've had in Newport. It is not inexpensive, but if you have one special meal while you are there, that should be it. It is open for lunch as well. Fabulous food, fabulous views of the water!

I will second the recommendation for Castle Hill Inn. It's fabulous. We went for dinner, when it was already dark ... so didn't even get to enjoy the view. But the food and the service were excellent. It is kind of a fun drive to get there too.

I cast a third ballot for Castle Hill - love to go there in the winter and watch for seals before the sun sets.
22 Bowen is great as well. I always enjoy Panera Bread for coffee, bagels, or onion soup in a baguette - yum!
Will you have a car? If so, try Jamestown - just over the bridge. In the winter, best bet is Chopmist Charlies - great seafood, casula and cheap!

Bouchard, Bouchard, Bouchard. Fantastic French, great chef and romantic/intimate surroundings. I was just there for New Years Eve and absolutely loved it. Also, the food at Asterisk was surprisingly good! We had dinner there twice and were pleased.
