I'll be in Newport, RI Sunday, Oct. 5 for about 4 hours. I'm planning on seeing the Newport mansions. Because I will be there for a short time, I'll have to choosy on which mansions I see. Which ones would you consider "don't miss"?

I was just in Newport last week and toured 6 mansions. I would say the "don't miss" mansions are the Breakers and Marble House. My next favorite was the Elms. Both the Elms and Marble House are self guided which is very nice. Enjoy!
About how long did it take you to tour the Marble House and the Breakers?
Each tour took us about an hour or maybe an hour and a half. We were there during the week so we didn't have to wait in any kind of line. The Breakers tour is guided and was an hour. The self guided Marble House tour was as long as you want to make it. Enjoy!
