I am booked into the Newport Bay Club and Hotel in July. I was warned about the "noise" from the street when I booked the suite. Anybody stay here or at a nearby place and can tell me how bad it is- I'm there during the week only, no weekends.

Newport Beach, CA? If so, there is the Balboa Bay Club which is right on Pacific Coast Highway. Heavy traffic at all times, including motorcycles on the weekends. Ask for a room on the bay side and it will be much better. Another choice would be the Hyatt Newporter. It's located on the Newport Back Bay had much quieter. They have top name jazz concerts on Friday nights, a very good restaurant. Also very close by is the Four Seasons at Fashion Island.

Newport Bay Club is nice but is near a very busy street. I reccomend the Four Seasons - right next to Fashion Island (upscale outdoor shopping area).
If you mean Newport, RI, you should be OK if you are not around on weekends. Unless, of course, you are a very light sleeper. Remember this town is a nightlife spot in the summer with bars up and down Thames street, and the patrons walk from place to place, often shouting drunkenly, until 1-2 am. This is much more of a problem on weekends, though.
Newport Bay Club in R.I. cann be noisy. Our room was in the middle of the hotel (away from Thames Street and still quite noisy from bar across the street) every night (not just weekends). So, ask for a room toward the back!
