Hi:

I am planning a trip to New York where I will be staying in Astoria, Queens. As much as I can I would like to avoid the astronomical prices I see for a taxi from Newark to Queens. I looked at different options for public transportation but with luggage probably it would be quite difficult to navigate from one end to the other (Airlink to NJ Penn Station; NJ Transit to NY Penn Station; walk to the R or N subway; walk from subway to apartment..). Does anyone know of any reasonable shared door-to-door transport from Newark to Astoria, Queens? Any advice would be appreciated.

You can check the EWR web site to see if there are any shuttles that do this - but I very much doubt it.

You have the option of taking the airport bus into Manhattan - stop at Grand Central for I think abou $18 - and then hop a cab there - which will be much cheaper than one all the way from EWR to Astoria.

Any chance you can fly into LGA or JFK? Even if the flight is more expensive you may save both $ and time in the long run.

You can try Supershuttle, but I don't really like the service.

Unless you have a huge amount of luggage, you can do public transit.
