I am looking for a medium priced restaurant for dinner withing walking distance of the Marriott Marquis. My boyfriend and I are in our mid-twenties, and would like to find a place that is attractive yet won't break the bank. I've heard about The Heartland Brewery and Chophouse on 43rd St. Can anybody recommend it or I am open to other suggestions. We are going to New York in 2 weeks.

*What do you consider "medium priced"?
*What types of food?
*What do you consider "within walking distance"? (There are hundreds of restaurants within what I would call "within walking distance"!)

The Heartland Brewery is a fun place, think TGI Friday's in style and atmosphere. It's lively and boisterous, with decent food. I especially like the buffalo burgers (if they have them), and their own beers are very good.

For something a step nicer, but still very reasonable, I love Angus MacIndoe's, about a block away from the Marquis on 44th (next to The Producers), which has a real mixed bag of a menu, and everything is good.

For really inexpensive there is an Ollie's Noodle House, also on 44th that is excellent and cheap -- Chinese, but seems a bit more trendy and modern than you might expect.

Yes, I get a kick out of Ollie's, and what's the Italian/pizza place that used to be a church? That's pretty good, too.

It's only two blocks west to Ninth Avenue where there are blocks and blocks of inexpensive to moderately priced restaurants. I especially like a Greek place - is it Uncle Nick's? All kinds of other food, too, in that area.

The "church" place is John's Pizza, very good and right next to Angus MacIndoe's.

And yes, Ninth is a haven for various inexpensive restaurants all with menus posted and many of them various ethnic cuisines.

Thanks for the replies. We took the suggestion and had dinner at Angus MacIndoe's. It was reasonable and delicious, and most of all, so convenient. We decided to have lunch at the Heartland Brewery which was very nice, but we were glad to have our "special dinner" at a slightly more upscale place. Again, thank you.
