New York Eats Out!
If you would like to reminisce about lots of the great old New York restaurants, check out the "New York Eats Out" exibition at the Main Branch of the New York Public Library on 42nd Street. It has pictures, menus, accompanying descriptives and historical references for many of the great restaurants of the past 100+ years ending in the 1970's with Windows on the World. Included are Delmonico's, Sherry's, Childs, Toffenetti's, Mama Leone, Horn & Hardart, Sweets, The Colony, Le Pavillion, Forum of the 12 Ceasars, La Fonda Del Sol, and many more. There is also a special section on the restaurants of the 1939 Worlds Fair.
Best of all it's free and they have a very nice brochure with pictures that is a great keepsake.

Thanks for the tip, Frank. Having worked in hotel & restaurants quite a bit when younger, I enjoy seeing some of the better days revisited. I often forget about library exhibits when I visit a place, which often rival the special exhibits at museums.

Very interesting. Ah, Mama Leone's -- Easter dinner 1968!!! The worst Italian food I ever ate. I had a copy of the Mama Leone's cookbook which had some very good recipes in it. They should have had a copy of it in their kitchen!!!
Any idea how long they will have this display? Still in the end of May??
