You are in the heart of Koreatown. One of our favorites is Hangawi. It serves veggie food and I am not a veggie person. Ebrything is enticing and wonderfully prepared.

On 33rd and 3rd is my favorite Jewish Deli 2nd Ave. Deli. Not only is the pastrami and corned beef melt in your mouth good, but they make excellent side dishes such as noodle or potato pudding (kugel) plus many others.

Yes it is expensive but two can share onw sandwich.

Overall it is not the best restaurant area in the city.

Hangawi is vegan and hardly to the tastes of most people, and you aren't going to find a wine list of any type at 2nd Avenue Deli. Neither of these suggestions seem anywhere in the vicinity of what you have asked for.

The difficult thing is that there are relatively few good restaurants in that area. But there are a lot of restaurants in Chelsea about 10 blocks south of the Eventi, and there are a lot of restaurants in the west 40s and 50s about 10 to 20 blocks north of the Eventi. What kind of food are you looking for?

Closer is Artisanal, which if you order judiciously, you may be able to reach your price point, but I typically spend a little more there for dinner for two, but we usually order a bottle of wine. But with one glass of wine (they have a very extensive list of wines by the glass), you can have a very nice meal there. Most entrees are in the upper 20s, and it's easily within walking distance of your hotel (perhaps 10 minutes). But do make a reservation. If you eat very early (5--6), there is an excellent prix-fixe menu that offers their delicious chicken cooked under a brick (my personal favorite thing there) for $38.50, which is a real bargain.

There are almost no evening shows on Sunday,so you'll need to look for matinees. If you'd like to see Once, which won a Tony recently, you should look for tickets now. But if you just want to see a show and don't care about which particular one, you can wait until you arrive and buy a ticket at TKTS and just head for the matinee. Or you can order discount tickets in advance (there are a lot of offers out there).

Thanks adu and Doug - we are happy to travel outside of the area if need be - just was looking to see what is in the general area - I have only stayed at 85 West Street at Albany Street (marriott) time square general area (I am one that does NOT want to be in the middle of it all) and the Waldorf.

Our hotel is not flexible as it is through a company event that will have us busy on Friday and Sat night.

I will check into Once - it is Labor day weekend so likely to be busy?

We are happy to go a little above our price point - we just were in Austin and stayed within it one night but went over the second night for a great sushi place. We tend to like to eat earlier and have an earlier flight home on Monday so that would be fine. (depending on the what we do with show options)

The Eventi s actually a great hotel, and it's well located even if there aren't many good restaurants within a couple of blocks. If you are looking fir a great fast bite, there are two truly excellent Korean fried chicken places nearby: Kyo- chon and Bon Chon, both on Fifth Avenue.

Doug - I have never had the treat to stay at a Kimpton - so I am excited for that - we are pretty locked into Marriott due to points and tend to stay for free in NYC (great place to use points due to the price point) - so I am looking forward to staying in a different hotel and a different area.

We might be ready for a fast bit and lay low on Sunday night - so thanks for those options!

So I am pretty excited - we are going to the Yankee game on Sunday. I have never been - my husband has been many times but I have never. Not actually a Yankee fan but love going to baseball games and I know it will be a treat!

Just wanted to report back - we had an AMAZING weekend - one of my best visits to NYC to date.
The Eventi was in a cool different location than we usually stay -
Went to Eatly - wow..that was amazing - checked out FIT for our 15 year old, had dinner at Del Posto - what a beautiful place! The US Open was a wonderful experience - the Yankee game was awesome - I had never been to the new stadium and wanted to check it out -
a high light - believe it or not was just strolling through central park with my husband for a few hours one afternoon.

For dinner on Sunday we ended up at Birreria with some family - it was a good choice.

Sounds like a great trip! You're so lucky you weren't going to the Open today - crazy wind and finally rain with a tornado touching down in Breezy Point - games postponed abruptly until tomorrow.
