New York City this weekend
We will be in the city tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday with our 13 year old son. We will be at a Mets game Sunday, but have all day Saturday to do whatever we want. However, I know it's expected to be really hot. Any suggestions? We have been to the city several times, so have hit most of the major tourist attractions. My son is not really into museums, and has already been to the Natural History Museum/
Really late notice to post anything, but hoping that you will come through for me!
Any thoughts about governor's island? South Street Seaport?
Thanks!

Governors Island is a very good choice. This summer they have an arcade-themed mini golf course. It will be cooler there, and there are certainly a lot of trees for shade. And hey, the ferry is free.
Might I also recommend the Staten Island Ferry? It's breezy and free, and offers awesome views.
The Seaport is not much fun and will be beastly hot tomorrow.
Have fun!

We're in the middle of trying to figure this out for ourselves!
Governor's Island is a good choice (ferries from both Manhattan and Brooklyn). Bike and kayak rentals, outdoor sculpture, lots of events going on all summer:

My other suggestion is to go to Coney Island and/or Aquarium. The new amusement park rides are supposed to be good, and of course the classics are great! Fourth of July was pretty crowded out there, but the sea breeze was nice. And crowds are fun for people-watching. Take the downtown D, F or Q to the end of the line for Coney; F or Q to W8th/Aquarium for that end of the boardwalk.

Of those two, definitely governors island. But I think you owe it to yourself to have an indoor alternative in case the heat is unbearable, which it may be. I don't know how much shade there is on Governors Island.

Don;t knock out museums if it's really unbearable. the Met has something for everyone - even my little b loved arms * armor, the egyptian department and the Temple of Dendur
And do consider buses or taxis versus subways - although the trains have AC the stations are hellishly hot.
