New Years San Diego? Or

First time travelers to California. We will be heading from Anaheim towards San Diego on December 29th to Sea World. We have 2 boys 23 and 20 with us. Where would be a good place to be on New Years Eve? Thanks

Check out the gaslamp area for New Year's activities.

I would recommend the Gaslamp area of Downtown San Diego as well. You might want to check with some local hotels in the area for ideas and suggestions because the restaurants will probably be totally booked.

Rarely venture out for public New Year's type parties anymore - but here is one list you can check:

One area that is fun for young adults (not so much parents) is the Pacific Beach area. But this hotel/restaurant might be fun for both generations. It is right on the Pacific Ocean so the setting is nice.

Amen Nanabee. If I see the big ball in NYC come down in Times Square - that's a late night anymore.

Years ago - we were usually skiing on New Year's - and after a busy day of skiing and then soaking in a "smoke filled" jacuzzi - followed by dinner and beverages - we also crashed early.

Again you need to decide quickly and make reservations as places won't be available.

Another fun area will be Old Town (which has a Mexican Fiesta flare).
A few good restaurants there are: Casa Guadalajara, El Agave, Fred's Mexican Cafe).

So after talking it over more with my husband and sons, they want to stay by the beach. So now my question is where? Does anybody have any recommendations. Mission Beach, La Jolla, ? Pretty much all I really know so far is that we're going to Sea World. Thanks
