New Weather Channel Interstate forecast format: boo!

A week or two ago, I recommended that someone traveling from the south to the northeast keep an eye on the Weather.com Interstate Highway forecast to decide whether to drive the coastal or inland route.

I can no longer make that recommendation. You now have to go through a national interstate map before finding the highway you want, then they have sliced and diced the forecasts so that I-95 is now divided into three segments (Northeast, East Central, and Southeast) instead of the former Maine-to-Miami single forecast. This is not an improvement, and I can't find anyplace on the site to give them feedback. So I am outa there!

Does anyone know a GOOD interstate highway weather forecast site?

I could not duplicate the behavior you describe. Here's the path I took.

weather.com>maps>interstate forecast>US map. Below that are boxes where you can select a north/south or east/west interstate and get the whole route. Or you can just click on the interstate emblem on the map to get the same result.
You can also get regional maps further down below.

That's of today. A couple of days ago. I could still get the segments you mentioned, but only as a secondary choice. The complete end-to-end route still was the primary choice.

They are changing things frequently! If you have some function on that page bookmarked, you may want to go back to the main page and trace through like I did and then redo your bookmark.

In response to your final question, check out:

http://www.intellicast.com/Travel/Driving/Highways.aspx

It's essentially the same, but the US map is easier to read.

I couldn't agree with you more. What were they thinking. I used that web site all the time in my travel planning. I posted a what were you thinking comments on their feedback site. Worst yet, I haven't found an acceptable alternative. Someone suggested Intellicast, but that doesn't allow for planning beyond today and tomorrow. Also the accuracy of the data is in question, it is supposed to be 85* in Glen Morgan, WV tomorrow, December 5th.

Never bother with them any longer. Much prefer accuweather or wunderground.com Of course, if you're in love with Cantore, well...

Amazing how posts get revived!

I didn't like the interface then. Now the product no longer exists, with no plans to revive it, according to staff.

Dukey, I use wunderground also for local weather, but what they haven't got was a product that gave you the weather in every major city on any given interstate.

Since I am committed to monthly trips between Nantucket or Boston and Richmond, it was very handy to be able to enter I-95 and get the weather all the way.

Their staff told me I would _love_ their new suburban weather product: just enter the names of all the cities . . . .

Progress?
