New Orleans with my 82 year old mother, help
I am taking my 82 yr old mother to NOLA for 6 days in the end of june and I am looking for ideas of things to do and see. We are staying in the French Quarter and we will not have a car so think walking to some degree, busses and trolly cars. My mother is in very good health and walks fine. She does get tired every so often and needs to sit for a bit then is up and going again. We are looking for food suggestions, things to do and see suggestions, and anything else you guys can think of.
Also, I have heard there are a number of neat little shops along Magazine St. in the garden District, is this true and where exactly is the best area for window shopping? We both love to do this kind of thing. We are going to go to Big Fisherman for lunch one of the days so we will be in the area. I did this myself and went to the bar across the street and sat on the patio and ate, it was great fun.
Thanks everyone, mscmkr

Where are you staying. I love the Dauphine Orleans for its location and it would be a good option for your mom. My mom has gone back for "girls weekends".
If you are venturing out from the French Quarter consider the BBQ shrimp (not what you think it is) that originated at Pascals Manele. http://www.neworleansrestaurants.com/pascalsmanale/

We are staying at the Prince Conti. The price we booked is amazing, only $62 per night for 7 nights. The location is incredible so we are pretty excited about going.
We are looking for ideas for places to eat in the quarter so anything anyone can think of please shout it out.
Thanks, mscmkr

You'll get a lot of info on places to eat. Almost anywhere you go, the food will be good. But if you want to have one special night out, just cross Conti Street from the hotel and go to Broussard's restaurant. It's a wonderful traditional N.O. restaurant with a dining patio if you like that kind of thing, and the food is as good as anything you will ever eat at any place in the city. Service is likewise exceptional. You can go to www.Broussards.com and explore their website for more information and menus.
